You are not a potential employee, you are a salesman.
No matter what job you’re going for, whatever position you may be interviewing for, or whatever title you may call yourself. At that very moment you are a salesman. So it only makes sense to prepare your mind like a salesman would. You may have a preconceived notion of what a salesman is. I’m not talking about fast talking, bad dressing, and manipulative lying salesman. They give no credit to the profession. I’m talking about confident, passionate individuals who know exactly what their goals are and stop at nothing until they get it. They approach their profession with integrity and align their core beliefs with the customer’s best interest at heart. The core philosophies that great salesman follow are:
Belief
Belief in oneself, belief in the company and belief in the product or service are you’re most important beliefs when presenting yourself. How much research did you do before applying for that job? Do you really believe you will be a contribution to the overall good of the company or are you just looking for a JOB? Do you really believe one hundred percent in the change you can make within that organization? Do you believe the service or product they provide is making a contribution to their core clients? If you’re not sure about any of these things don’t even apply. You will just be another interviewee amongst the others vying to take up space. When you truly believe that’s your position, certain energy will radiate from you. It will be felt, seen and heard by every movement you make. You will noticeably stand out and make an impact that’s rarely seen.
Confidence
There is something
that happens to the human soul when we have confidence. It allows us to do things we might have never done before. Confidence will enable you to interview them instead of them interviewing you. It will allow you to speak, walk, and act as if they’re lucky for your time. You know deep down inside your contribution will make an impact, rather than just follow the rules and be a 9-5er. Confidence will enable you to get every job you truly want for the rest of your life.
Conviction
How convicted are you in what you can do? How convicted are you in what they can do? When you have conviction you shine brighter than everybody else that thinks they will get that job over you. You’re able to tie in all the beliefs, passions, desires, and confidently present yourself as the number one man for the job.
Proper preparation will lead you to feeling extremely confident in your ability to go far and beyond what they’re looking for. Your convictions will convince them that there’s no better man for the job than you. You will believe with all your heart that you’re the best and they not only will be getting an employee, they will be getting a man on a mission for change and greatness. Don’t apply for a job; apply for your new life.
